One headset, no PC, no cables
Both models run on the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 with 8 GB of memory and share the same app library.
Two RGB cameras show the room in color, so virtual content sits in the space around the user.
Everything runs on the headset. A Link cable or Air Link connects to a PC when an application needs one.
Four IR and two RGB cameras track hands without controllers. Touch Plus controllers add haptics.
What changed in 2026
Meta ended its commercial program. Business fleets now run on the same headsets everyone buys.
Commercial editions ended
Meta stopped selling business editions of Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Fleets are built from the standard models.
Horizon managed services is free
No per device fee, and still the path that enrolls Quest into ArborXR or ManageXR. Meta supports it until January 4, 2030.
Standard warranty only
The three year business warranty ended with the commercial editions. Headsets carry Meta's standard consumer warranty.
Horizon Workrooms closed
Meta shut down Workrooms with no direct replacement. Collaboration runs on third party applications.

Same processor, memory, and apps. The difference is the optics, the display, and storage.
